Comments from the 2010 race
I just wanted to say "Thank you" for a fabulous weekend! This was my first time at Lost Soul (I ran the 100K), and it definitely won't be my last!
This is a fantastic race...you can really tell that you guys put your heart and soul into it, and that you really care about your race and your racers. And the aid stations (and the people running them) were second to none...I don't eat that well at home!
Thank you again...Great job! Great race! Great volunteers!

Hi Dave!
Thanks for the GREAT race! This was my first ever ultra and boy was it challenging yet rewarding at the same time! Anyways, Thanks again! I’ll be back!

THANK YOU again - your race was TRULY the best race I have ever run! I LOVED the pic idea - every race should have a pic you can go home with -
and the before pic idea - so that if something does happen - we know what the person looks like.
AMAZING and thank you again.
ps
your 'clothes' items are also the best I have seen in races too - great quality.

Hi Dave:
The race was again really good, but I blew out my left calf muscle on the last lap and limped from the hill above the waste treatment plant out to town and had my wife pick me up.
Once again, thanks for organizing a great race , which spectacular aid stations.
Thanks for running the dry course!
Michael
Dave,
Thanks to all your great volunteers. Due to the people and the course, this continues to be my favorite race and I can hardly wait for next year.

Dave,
Just a quick note to pass on my appreciation to you and all your team for a fantastic event and weekend.
I had heard the event was something special and it fully lived up to and exceeded my expectations. The course itself was excellent and a joy to run on. The marking was excellent but not too intrusive. The volunteers at the aid stations were brilliant - always a friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. It was great that you gave full credit on Sunday morning to all the sponsors etc who make such events possible. Overall, you managed to very effectively mask an amazing efficient operation behind an outward approach of informality and fun - well done and thank you.
I would not hesitate to recommend Lost Soul as a "must do" event.
Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved and I hope you can now enjoy a well earned rest!
Thanks again
Rob
Hey Dave,
Best race ever. Thanks for an awesome experience. That course is hard. Those hills, they aren't high, but they are steep and it seems there 100 of them you have to go up...and down which of course hurts more than going up.
Of course, I cannot get over the aid stations and volunteers, you must treat those people right because they are unbelievable. The thing that got me the most about the volunteers is that when you got to an aid station someone would invariably latch onto you and get you whatever you needed.
I had one experience at Pavan at about 9 p.m. on Friday where I was changing my shirt and I spilled a cup of orange pop. Well you would have thought I was at a 5 star restaurant, there was one lady kinda following me around but then out of nowhere 2 other guys showed up, "what can I do, do you need some help, what do you need?", frankly I did not think that I looked that out of it but perhaps I was a little frazzled after racing for 13 hours, so I said to one of the guys, "um, yeah, sure, you could put this orange pop soaked shirt in this plastic bag here." Which was what I was trying to do because, oh my, did it stink. So he did, and this other guy was out there with a rag cleaning up my mess. Of course at all the aid stations people were more than happy to take my bottles and fill them up, which meant the world to me.
I mean people talk about the food at the aid stations (which is amazing, seriously, baked salmon and bacon/cheese burgers, I truly believe that if you have a craving that cannot be satisfied at the aid station it could not be satisfied by food) but the other thing is they were CLEAN and ORGANIZED. There was never any trash lying around, and I know why, it was because someone was always following me around cleaning up my mess, I would come in to an aid station and empty my pockets of my gel packets and someone would always come by and pick them up before I had a chance to worry about finding a trash can. And the food was always hot, how the hell they do that I don't know. And at 4 a.m. when I got to HQ, finishing the 100k, I asked the lady, you have any hamburgers, she said none were ready but she would make some, I said don't worry about it, she said no it is fine, 6 minutes later I had a burger, and 4 minutes after that I had another one. I could go on, and if you want to hear more you can read my accounting of the experience here

I really regret not making the breakfast on Sunday and being able to thank as many of the volunteers in person as I could.
Thanks again,
